Now, we proudly release a 30-minute condensed version of I.O.U.S.A. designed specifically for watching and sharing on the web - for free. So if you haven't had a chance to see the movie yet, watch the condensed I.O.U.S.A. today. If you've already seen it in a theater, check out the abbreviated
version for a refresher. Then, tell your friends, your family, your Facebook friends and your Twitter followers about the staggering amount of money - $53 trillion - in financial obligations owed by the federal government to foreign investors and to every single American in the form of pensions, he
alth benefits, Social Security and Medicare. Then, visit http://www.IOUSAtheMovie.com and join us in our Fiscal Wake-Up Movement. Together, we can make American fiscal responsibility a reality. The Peter G. Peterson Foundation has teamed up with mtvU to create InDebtEd, a new campaign for colleg
e students that raises awareness about the dangers of personal and government debt and promotes action to help stop the fiscal crisis in the United States. Applicants 18-28 years old, individually or in teams, must come up with a creative, original idea for a video game that addresses the nation's
fiscal crisis, with a $10,000 prize at stake. To get more information, or to apply to the contest, go to http://indebted.mtvu.com/the-challenge. And if you're not between the ages of 18-28, forward the site to a friend who is!

Rest of the world - I'm an American, and after 30 years of INSANE Reganomics and 8 years of the WORST administration in the history of the nation, know that the only way to fix going into another 1929 Republican great depression is to rebuild the economy from the bottom up. The middle class is the engine that created our superpower and Obama will get it running again via a green energy renaissance. The darkness is ending and a brighter day is on the horizon...

Where do you think Obama is going to get the money from to pay for this green energy renaissance. He's already said that he will keep the Bush tax cuts, He mention pulling out of Iraq(no time soon) but he also mentioned "Finishing the Fight in Afghanistan". Don't forget about 700billion dollar bailout that he was infavor of. And last the Universal Health-care for 45million uninsured. It will be brighter days, like staring into the sun.

You're right. We're F&$%#d. So, instead of proactively trying to fix the situation lets all just wine and complain about how there's no way it can ever be solved. Global warming is going to kill us all too...

How could people not know the national debt? How could American people not know that they are the MOST INDEBTED nation in the world? Even worse, how could they not care to know? Look at the viewership of this video compared to that of Brittney spears, Paris Hilton etc!

We may be a poor country but we're a proud people. Proud we have a 4k+ years worth of culture, tradition and history; proud we never invaded other countries and assassinated presidents via CIA; proud we're not so utterly hated that people fly planes into our buildings; proud that even if we're poor we always send humanitarian aid whenever natural disasters strike across the world. What do you send? You have been involved in over 250 wars in a mere 300 years of existence. So yes, 'deservedly'.
Don't blame the ... ( 4 days ago by jacquezd)
Don't blame the terrorists for flying buildings into the USA...just blame the victim. Smart, real smart...you're very intelligent. If it wasn't for the USA, you wouldn't be on YouTube because 1) There wouldn't be an Internet like we know it today. And 2) There wouldn't be a YouTube! And, yeah, ok, Romania sends aid...about $20 each time. Don't compare Romania's humanitarian aid to the USA's, please, it's not even close. So shut up.
Not being able to ... ( 3 days ago by rhadiel)
Not being able to say anything else about Romania apart it's a poor country just shows how narrow-minded you are. Focusing on wealth instead of values is what got you there. Enjoy the ride.

I'm a 24 year old American and I agree. This country is finished. I only hope I can emigrate before it happens. Doubt it. The people here, by and large, are beyond ignorance of what is happening with their government. They do not particularly care either.

What we've got is a two party system that is so powerful it is almost impossible if not impossible to get a candidate elected that isn't part of their crooked system and very few people that even know that. Since I dropped the Republican party and went independent it's become obvious to me that it isn't just liberals or Democrats that control the media. The truth about the condition the economy was submerged by both parties. Logic has left the public mind or anyone could see it.

This may be off topic, but I'm going to rate the video. It does a great job addressing a looming crisis, and deserves to be widely shared. My own take is that it would be great if it were shown in every classroom in every high school/University in the country. But that probably isn't going to happen. My 16 year old son found it interesting and informative, as did my 86 year old Dad. If you did as well then please share the message.
