Regardless of weather the 1/507 is showing a copy of this at the Jump Schools website, . . it appears to have been filmed at Ft. Bragg. There are too many 82nd patches on the shoulders of those guys. Besides where are the Black Hats? Also, where are the student jump helmets with the numbered tape? This looks like the 82nd on Sicily DZ at Ft. Bragg.

Alright that brings up another question. I have a decent understanding of a MEU, but have always wondered what advanced infantry support they have. I know that they have a heavy amount of conventional infantry, but what SOF support is there, if any? Also, does this vary between MEU's or is it a set standard?

im glad and willing to discuss with you any usmc unit anytime. however, im not sure if people will much receptive to it as you are. so if anyone has a problem, then want we can always message.
going back to a meu, "heavy amount" is subjective. totally size of a meu is about 2200 give to take. of this, 1 bn is infantry or about 1000. the rest is combat air or combat logistic support. the eyes and ears for the meu commander or what is known as sof or sf, is our force recon unit.

Thanks, I was interested purely because I wanted to strengthen my knowledge of how the other services operate, and if others have a problem with such discussion, oh well. We are all together, rivalries aside. Thanks again though.

your welcome, anytime. is this different from the army's? i like to implement the "kiss" method whenever i can, and to me, the meu, i was would think of it as a traveling war machine. it can also be special operation capable (not the same as sof). it has everything it needs such as, arty, tanks, harriers, helos, grunts, cooks, supply, in that 2200, except for three things... medics, chaplains, and the ship it self. that's why we like to call the navy, the most expensive limousine service. lol.

I was in the 82nd for 6 years, and yes this is Siciliy, the leading edge of the dropzone is at Gruber Rd. (where the 30 second warning is given). Im no longer in, but thanks to all who are still serving and continuing the great tradition of the mighty AIRBORNE!!

Force Recon wasn't appart of the USSOCOM establishment until last year I believe. The Marines frowned on making a "Special Forces" division that didn't support Corps.

lol yeah but its the brother hood! you cant make it through bootcamp without helpin each other! my dads friends a Major in the Marines and in one train he went 2 it was an army base and army trainees as well and he saw an army dude falling out so when he got 2 him he graped him from the back and told him he aint gonna fall out that his going to make it. you know what the Army DI said "get you hand off him! if he can make it on his own then he can make it"

I agree, there are no marines jumping in this vid. The DZ looks like Ft. Bragg. So it probably is 82nd.
